Success is the Best Revenge

Nan Desu Kan was pretty awesome. I met many friendly local
artists, as well as ones from out of town too. There were alot of cosplayers everywhere and I wish I took more photos of
them. However here is an impressive Deadpool
and some yummy quesadillas. The best moment
for me personally was the Satoshi Kon panel. It basically discussed the greatness which is Kon and showed a 60-second clip
which he made specifically for, or at least submitted to, the con.
Here's a link. Amazing, right? This is one of the
many reasons why Satoshi Kon is most likely my favorite anime director of all time.

I've read over the current script for my latest comic book project, Boo-Jee Grrl! (Two "r"'s, not three and no longer
includes the "The Ursula Schlabotnik Project" caption). It is enough for two very full 32-page comic books so far. I'm not
sure how many issues this story will have, but I expect at least six. We'll see. I'm working on character designs right now.
Then I'll get some thumbnails made for the pages. I will be working on this comic and some trading cards for the next couple
months. More information on the cards later.

I've been working on a portrait for the past month or two now. Portraits can be very out of my comfort zone, but sometimes that
can be a good thing for an artist in order to improve. I think it helped me in some ways. I added it to the "Illustrations"
section. This was the original from
which I was given to work from.

Recently, I've finished up a 2-card puzzle set of Luke Skywalker and Yoda as well as a Bizarro card. Both are in the "Illustrations"
section now. I made a step-by-step process of how I drew each one. Here's the
Luke Skywalker and Yoda and the
bizarro card and Bizarro step-by-step templates.

Nan Desu Kan

Nan Desu Kan, here I come. I plan on going this Saturday (12th),
but I won't have a booth or anything like that. I will simply be wandering around the place like a mad monk. Maybe I'll
attend a few interesting panels and meet a couple artists and check out some artwork. I've never been there before,
but it seems to be growing each year, so it should be fun.

I've been working on my little site here, just making the experience for everyone a tad bit more enjoyable and easier.
In the "Illustrations" section, I added small previews of the artwork to the titles. So whenever you scroll over a thumbnail,
the preview will appear. My friend Nina said the thumbnails basically looked like a pile of shit, so hopefully
this will make her (and others) think otherwise. I also got rid of some of the crappier artworks from there too. I intend
on fixing up other things whenever I get some free time...

...Which may not be any time soon. I got a script for the first portion of Boo-Jee Grrrl! about a week or so ago.
I haven't even had time to read the damn thing! I really want to, but I have so much I'm trying to get out of the way first
so I can focus on it. I did skim over it however and I know it's going to be great. Once I get the remaining commissions wrapped
up, I will concentrate on making the comic books for it.

In addition to Boo-Jee Grrrl!, I just learned about a new trading card set I will be working on. I don't know how
secret it's supposed to be so I won't say anything more than that. Yeah. I know. I'm a bastard. But don't fret. I have some cards
to show that I've made recently. Here's a puzzle-set of
Wolverine and Phoenix and I added
another puzzle-set of Shaun of the Dead in the "Illustrations" section. Also here's some
random card sketches.

Hopefully on my next update I'll have some photos to show of my time at Nan Desu Kan.

Wolverine

I came across Ryan Benjamin's penciled commission of a Wolverine piece and he was willing to let anyone out there ink it, so I decided to not only ink it but color it as well. Here are the digital inks and colors I did on my old bamboo wacom tablet.

18 Iron Man 2 Movie Cards

In accordance with the Dec 31, 2009 post at AdamCline.com explaining that this is where I will post 18 of the 26 Iron Man 2 cards I did for Upper Deck, I bring to you...

If a Thousand Words Are Worth a Painting, Then I Have Spoken a Million Words

(first posted at AdamCline.com)

If a thousand words are worth a painting, then I have spoken a million words. It's true.

That "Conan the Barbarian" artwork I did got published on Covered on
July 2nd. I also
have it here in the "Illustrations" section. Here is the
original
"The Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian" #46 cover
by Earl Norem that inspired my version. On
Earl's wikipedia site, he's quoted as saying
"...the younger art buyers don't want anything to do with an 81-year-old artist." I could not disagree more. His artwork is incredible.

I've added a few other artworks to the "Illustrations" section: Red Skull, Tron, Dark Phoenix, and Namor the Sub-Mariner. I also created a
step-by-step look at the Namor card.

Here's a bunch of random cards from the past month or so:
Wonder Woman,
Nightcrawler,
Spider-Man,
Hulk,
Rogue,
Catwoman,
Poison Ivy,
Wolverine, and
The Red Shadows.

People on deviantART have been wanting prints of my "Brain" artwork, so I've decided to have some made. There are two versions to choose
from: A brain with pointers
and a brain without pointers.
Only $7 for each 8.5x11" glossy print and shipping, as always, is free. If you want one, just e-mail me with which version you would like.
My contact info is in the "About" section.

I'm still working on the buddha shirt design, but I'm close to finishing it up. It's taking some time due to me having to prioritize
other things and I want the design to be as perfect as possible so everyone will want to rock it.

I tinkered around with fixing the lightbox effect that occurs when you open an artwork in the "Illustrations" section. Most of AdamCline.com's
visitors use Mozilla Firefox, but the effect wasn't working in that browser as well as it was in Internet Explorer. I messed around with it
and got what I wanted fixed, but now I have other issues like that thick horizontal bar that shows at the initial opening and the location that
it opens at in Firefox in the window isn't correct. The lightbox that MySpace uses when you comment on someone's page works perfect. I'll keep
fooling with it, but I could use some help.

Konnichiwa. Check it out...my name is mentioned in an
online article
and it's actually got something to do with my art and not a homicide or something like that!

Not too long ago, I finished up another sketch card puzzle set for a client:
Nightcrawler versus Wolverine. I've been
keeping busy doing sketch card commissions. I wish I could show them! But I can't just yet. Patience, young grasshoppuh.

Good news, everyone! My Conan the Barbarian artwork got accepted to the blog I submitted it to. Should be scheduled for July 2 and then I'll
link to it and blah blah blah.

A little less than a month ago, I finished another one of my personalized sketch cards for a client. He wanted a
Buffy the Vampire Slayer card.

I recently finished another artwork for a deviantart contest here.
The objective is to basically embody the essence of Japan. This is my entry entitled
Nippon. I have a slightly altered version
of this which I plan on using to create t-shirts and maybe other products. I will post more about that when the time comes ;)
